A Midsummer Night’s Dream Wedding: Marielle and Casey

Marielle and Casey’s dreamy summer wedding was one of our team’s absolute favorite weddings of 2019. This lovely couple wanted to capture the drama and romance of a Midsummer’s Night Dream with their August wedding, and they certainly did it! They hired us for our Signature Flora Nova package, so we got to design all aspects of this beautiful wedding day. So fun!!

Marielle chose a floral wedding dress and the rest of the wedding party wore a mix of soft blues and sage green. Summery white florals mixed with abundant flowing greenery and accents of grapevine, rich dark wood, and touches of gold throughout the ceremony and reception decor. The wedding was held at The Golf Club at Newcastle, an iconic Seattle venue with a killer view of Lake Washington, the Olympic mountains, and both downtown Bellevue and Seattle.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream Wedding Ceremony Under the Tent

Is there anything more summery than a white tent wedding?? Guests entered the marquee through a lush greenery arch and found the interior transformed into an enchanted fairyland (and isn’t that what a midsummer night’s dream wedding is all about?!?). Green smilax vines dripped from the central chandeliers and climbed the draped walls. Gardenia blooms greeted guests as they took their seats on long wooden benches on either side of the long white aisle. And at the front, a towering four-posted arch of grapevine, smilax vines, and white roses created the perfect canopy for the couple’s exchange of vows.

On to the Party!

After a cocktail reception on the sunlit terrace, guests dined in the greenery filled ballroom. Custom built wooden trellises framed each of the long vineyard tables. These were draped with vines and hung with delicate hanging votive candles. Each of the ballroom’s eight chandeliers were also hung with vines, and tall crystal vases filled with greenery created the illusion of indoor trees on the tables. As a special touch, the bride’s family commissioned custom made sliced wooden charger plates embellished with the couple’s monogram – a gift for each guest.

A Dramatic Red Winter December Wedding: Meagan & Sonny at the Four Seasons Seattle

Bride with a red bouquet and full length veil makes a dramatic entrance to her winter ceremony lit by lots of candles lining the aisle | Flora Nova Design Seattle

Dramatic Winter Ballroom Wedding

Big drama was the hallmark of this red winter wedding which we brought to every detail of this special event. We loved this dramatic winter color palette of moody dark reds, burgundy, navy blue, accents of blush and loads of texture and greenery. For drama we added lucite and lots of glitzy gold, and as a result it made for an incredible dramatic evening. Which moreover felt cozy and intimate despite being in the beautiful large Four Seasons Hotel ballroom.

Unique Details Add Up To A Memorable Event

For this red winter wedding ceremony we used a bold navy blue aisle runner in place of a traditional white carpet. The full room draping in the same shade of navy created the perfect setting for their evening ceremony. Moreover we lined the aisle with lots of candles, placed next to gold chameleon chairs with red cushions. At the front of the aisle we placed four tall arrangements with long trailing greenery on lucite pillars and plenty of candles to brighten the December evening.

For Meagan and Sonny’s ballroom reception we used navy table linens paired with red and crimson patterned napkins. Gold rimmed charger plates, gold flatware, plenty of gold candles with a romantic glow completed the look. In addition we used a mix of low compote and tall centerpieces on gold stands. We used winter floral such as antique hydrangea, roses, amaranths, pepper berry, and amaryllis in rich shades of reds and blush. We then added lots of greenery and texture and to finish everything off we added a red spray rose to every napkin. As a result we created a romantic yet dramatic red winter wedding. What do you think?

The Romantic Spring Wedding of Christina and Ryan

How about purple spring wedding flowers? Sweet-pea, roses, stock, hyacinths, phlox, campanula … to just name a few. They are not only super pretty and delicate but oh-so fragrant too. Christina and Ryan celebrated their wedding day last June at the swank Four Seasons Hotel in Seattle and incorporated all those pretty flowers as part of their floral designs.

The weather outside was unusually hot (do you remember that heatwave?) and we were so glad to be working indoors. And wow, the flowers sure liked the air conditioned ballroom too.

Romantic Bouquets of Purple Spring Wedding Flowers

We had so much fun designing these fluffy, romantic bouquets for Christina and her bridal party. Fragrant sweet pea was just the perfect addition to bouquets of roses, peonies, and ranunculus.

A Wooden Arch for the Ceremony

For Christina and Ryan’s spring ceremony we designed a wooden arbor adorned with sheer draping, lots of fresh spring greenery, and white and purple spring wedding flowers. We used peonies, roses, stock, campanula, and phlox to create a romantic backdrop with an organic garden feel.

And we lined the aisle and aisle entrance with hurricane candles and flowers propped onto clear lucite pedestals.

A Romantic Reception Featuring Purple Spring Wedding Flowers

And look at this romantic and elegant wedding reception: wall draping, specialty linens, silver Chivari chairs, and lots of spring flowers and candles transformed the Four Seasons ballroom into a fresh, romantic reception space. And look at these beautiful chandeliers above the dance floor – what a nice touch.

Some of these shades remind me of the Pantone Color of the Year 2022 “Very Peri” – how I love how Christina was so ahead of the curve!

The Wedding of Jordan and Troy in Gig Harbor

A very Happy First Anniversary to Jordan and Troy! This lovely couple tied the knot on a glorious Seattle spring day in 2021 at the family’s beautiful waterfront residence near Gig Harbor right on Puget Sound. Having been affected by pandemic restrictions the couple moved their wedding from a local hotel to this beautiful home and celebrated with just closest friends and family. And what a glorious spring day it was for this beautiful outdoor wedding!

Spring Flowers for a Seattle Spring Wedding

Designing floral arrangements for an early spring wedding fills our hearts. In March and April we start receiving the first locally grown spring flowers like ranunculus, anemones, jasmine vines, and fun foliages. So naturally we used them for Jordan’s bouquets. But it was the peach colored David Austin rose “Juliet” that took center stage throughout her designs!

An Outdoor Ceremony

For the ceremony we decorated the small backyard tent with lots and lots of greenery vines. As ceremony backdrop we designed a round circle arch covered in greenery and floral clusters using various roses in shades of cream and peach.

It was such a beautiful Seattle spring wedding to be part of and the couple was the the sweetest! We will have fond memories of them and this gloriously sunny day.

Thank you, Bear Beau Photography, for the lovely images!

Wedding at the Fairmont Olympic: Lindsay & Erin

After a year and a half of wedding planning (thanks, pandemic!), Lindsay and Erin finally celebrated their wedding at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel in grand style. This couple envisioned an elegant and softly traditional event, filled with flowers in shades of white, cream, and blush and lush garden greenery. For her bouquet, Lindsay opted for a modern ombre design of white and blush garden roses, sweet ranunculus and lisianthus, and soft pink larkspur. The groom and groomsmen in their black tuxes and bridesmaids in long pale silk gowns were elegance itself – just look at this beautiful wedding party!

A Romantic Ceremony in the Garden Room

The high ceilings and arched windows of the Fairmont Olympic’s Garden Room created a stunning backdrop for this wedding ceremony. And with such a grand backdrop, we knew we needed to create a ceremony arch worthy of such a space. The 12 foot tall tall lucite arch was topped with a bower of roses and soft greenery, and flanked on either side by large white urns filled with lush floral. Down the aisle, groupings of glass hurricane candles sparkled. A big shout-out to the team at Crimson Haze – their uplighting during the ceremony was the perfect finishing touch to send this ceremony over the top!

A Lavish Reception in the Spanish Ballroom

A stunning long head table surrounded by flowers anchored the reception space. A lush floral runner ran the length of the table and trailed off both ends. Creating a lovely backdrop behind the table, a set of four large white urns overflowed with flowers and greenery. The white tiered wedding cake, decorated with a cascade of blush and white roses and green leaves sat on its own round table, draped in gold linen. And throughout the room, round dinner tables featured a mix of low floral arrangements in gold compotes and towering tall arrangements set on fluted crystal vases.

Martha and Mick Tie The Knot at The Nest in Seattle

Martha and Mick’s intimate Seattle rooftop wedding is likely one of our top 5 weddings of 2021. The location, the couple’s style, the neutral color palette, the floral choices – all so swoonworthy!

Elegant Seattle rooftop wedding with view of the Puget Sound: large greenery arch with white flowers, lots of candles and lanterns, and white flowers on clear lucite pedestals
Wedding Ceremony at The Nest in Seattle

An Elegant Outdoor Setting

Many of our 2021 couples looked for ways to have the safest setting possible for their wedding day. And outdoor venues were certainly an attractive option – especially during the pandemic. No better place for an intimate celebration than The Nest rooftop bar at The Thompson Hotel in Seattle. With vast views across the Puget Sound to West Seattle and the Olympic Peninsula, The Nest is one of our favorite outdoor venues in Seattle.

This wedding was a feast for the eye. Beautiful floral arrangements, a grand blooming floral arch, modern lucite touches, a clear tent, a grand twinkle light installation, greenery chandeliers, masses of candles – and of course the view. A true truly stunning wedding.

The Floral Details

Martha and Mick envisioned designs in whites and creams mixed with lots of lush eucalyptus greenery. Martha’s favorite flower is the Panda anemone – the delicate white bloom with a black center. 2021 was a challenging year for specific floral wishes as we were facing major disruptions and shortages throughout the year. But luckily our suppliers pulled through and we got them! We created lush garden designs of ivory roses, white ranunculus, white lisianthus, white stock and delphinium, and of course Panda anemones.

A Seattle Rooftop Wedding Ceremony

For the ceremony we created a large, asymmetric arbor blooming with cream and ivory roses. We lined the aisle with floral pieces propped onto clear lucite pedestals, lots of hurricane candles, and lanterns. The ceiling was decorated with greenery vines. And all this with the grandest views across the sound. It truly was a quintessential Seattle Rooftop Wedding!

The Intimate Wedding Reception

For the intimate dinner reception the couple opted for one long guest table seating about 40 guests. We lined the long table with low centerpieces and lots of taper candles. Velvet linens and clear lucite ghost chairs completed the look. And the grand twinkle chandelier in the tent ceiling provided a soft glow and was perfecting the ambiance. Such a pretty setting!
