Ashley and Danny’s Fall Wedding on Lake Union

The worst of the Covid-19 pandemic *should* be behind us, right? What a year it’s been! The ups and downs were taxing but the future sure looks promising. We haven’t blogged as much as we hoped this past year although we have some amazing images to share of sweet, intimate celebration, beautiful outdoor weddings, and glamorous mini-monies. Today I want to start by sharing images of this absolutely unique, amazing, fun, and perfectly safe wedding from the fall of 2020: A Fun Seattle Wedding During The Pandemic!

Ashley and Danny celebrated their wedding day in September of 2020. We had fun using all the amazing fall blooms and textures the season has to offer: the bouquets included Cafe au Lait dahlias, orange ranunculus, chocolate cosmos, blush roses, local amaranthus, berries, and vibrant fall textures. Isn’t her bouquet to die for?

A Perfectly Safe Wedding During A Pandemic

Ashley and Danny celebrated their wedding day during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic in the fall of 2020. But that didn’t stop them from having an awesome, very safe, socially distanced wedding. Just look at these uber-fun images: the couple and their wedding party held the ceremony on a small ferry boat – the “Fremont Avenue” – in the middle of Seattle’s Lake Union. Their guests joined them around the lake: each family on their own boat or vessel, and even on paddle boards. That is social distance taken to the next level – how amazing is that?

How To Have Fun During The Pandemic

We decorated the wedding boat with lots of greenery and fall blooms: the railings, front, and stern were dripping in smilax vines, dahlias, and roses. Little decorative elements inside and outside transformed this ferry boat into a fun, romantic wedding venue.

As ceremony backdrop the couple opted for a moon arch which we covered in greens and fall flowers as well.

Smaller, more intimate weddings like this will stay with us for a little while longer and we are here for them! As much as we love grand affairs, the small weddings have our heart! Let us know how we can help with your upcoming intimate wedding.

With lockdowns and unsafe dining conditions, have you considered having an at-home, intimate, romantic date night? With Valentines Day just around the corner, we love the idea of treating your love to a special evening at home. How about ordering food from your favorite restaurant or caterer and set a romantic table including flowers and fun table top items?

Here is our inspiration for a modern, yet romantic dinner date table setting:

Unexpected Color Pairing

For your romantic date night we love the idea of unexpected color pairings like our teal and pink color palette. It’s fresh, fun, yet still very romantic.

Have you considered digging out the linens and fancy china for an at-home dinner together? From Valentine’s Day to special anniversaries or birthdays – we’d love to help you! Flora Nova Design can provide everything from a floral centerpiece to beautiful rental items such as linens, plates, and glasses (and don’t forget the candles!).

Blush Pink Flowers

The romantic centerpiece we created for this look contained roses in various shades of pink, pink carnations, and pink orchids. Paired with lots of pink taper candles, this was a striking tablescape which we would love to recreate for you.

Putting extra thought into the place setting, even if you get take out, can spell out love without using words. Whether it’s for a special someone or the whole family, having a romantic date night might be exactly what we need this year! The extra effort can really say “I love You!”. You may forget just for an evening that you’re still stuck at home.

Pampas Grass Winter Wedding: Carly & Oliver

FORMAL EVENING PAMPAS GRASS WEDDING CEREMONY

Carly and Oliver’s formal New Years Eve wedding took place in the Garden Room at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel. And what a gorgeous downtown Seattle venue they chose for their special day! For the ceremony we placed lucite pillars at different heights and added the centerpieces that would later be used for reception table centerpieces. We used both elevated and low compote arrangement styles to create an interesting and lush floral backdrop for the ceremony. The large vase arrangements were designed with hydrangea, roses, lots of greens, and of course, on-trend pampas grass for natural texture and interest.

New Year’s Eve Wedding Reception in White and Mauve

Large floral centerpieces filled with white hydrangea, roses, and greenery with pops of mauve took center stage for the reception – placed on round tables with neutral linens. We added lots of natural pampas grass for a slightly relaxed feel. Pampas grass weddings can often be ‘boho’ in nature. However we tried not to go too far in that direction for this more semi formal event. Keeping it timeless and elegant was our goal. Most importantly, to add a special New Years feel, a large holiday light chandelier hung over the dinner reception tables. As a result a cozy festive glow was achieved. By far the most eye catching element in the space. Perfect for a New Year’s Eve wedding!!

How Are You Decorating for the Holidays?

Have you started decorating for the holidays yet? Or are you overwhelmed by it all?

Today is December 1st and for me officially the start of decorating at home. At my house, I have been hanging lights above the fireplace and outside the main entrance door, and I placed a decorated wreath as centerpiece for my dining room table. Not much quite yet, but it’s starting to feel very festive. Much more decorations will follow in the coming days. This year seems especially important surrounding myself with pretty things.

But my favorite part is the dining room table. It’s where everything is happening: all meals of the day, crafting and sewing projects, playing games. So let’s talk about your holiday dinner table for a while – Flora Nova’s specialty!

Setting a Festive Dinner Table During the Holidays

Your dining room table is probably the centerpiece of your home. It certainly is for me, and I try to always have fresh flowers or seasonal decorations on it.

Whether it’s a fresh wreath, a fresh floral bouquet, or an arrangement containing seasonal elements and ornaments, please let us help you decorate for the holidays. And did you know that we can help beyond flowers and centerpieces? We can provide luxurious linens, chairs, candles, and specialty table top elements to make your intimate family dinner as festive as possible.

Here are just a few inspirations to get you in the mood:

Home Decorating for the Holidays

Do you know we offer home decorating services for the holidays? We love decorating! And with the holidays just around the corner we are looking forward to helping you create festive environments for your home. Whether for Thanksgiving or the Christmas holidays, we are here to help!

With only a few weeks till Thanksgiving here are some lovely ideas and inspirations on how to set a beautiful dinner table.

Decorating for the Holidays: Thanksgiving table with fresh flower centerpieces, decked with taper candles, mustard yellow napkins, wooden table, Provence chairs - FLORA NOVA DESIGN SEATTLE

Beautiful Floral Centerpieces

Of course when we talk about how to decorate for the holidays, the flowers take center stage! And centerpieces with all the fun fall flowers and textures are amongst our favorites to design. Foliages turn into vibrant colors, blooms turn into pods, hydrangeas take on an antique marbled color palette, and we have a large abundance of dahlias, scabiosa, zinnia, and late summer garden roses available at the markets. Look at these beautiful centerpieces we recently designed!

Adding All the Fun Details

Decorating for the holidays goes far beyond just the floral centerpieces. In these inspirational pictures we added fruit, used colored taper candles, and and specialty table top elements, like specialty flatware, colored water glasses, and fun dishware. And the sheer ivory table runner and the mustard yellow velvet napkins with a sprig of dried fern add that special touch. And of course we can also help with specialty rentals like wooden tables, and these beautiful wooden Provence chairs.

Did you get inspired? We sure hope so. Please let us know if you’d like our help with any of your decorating projects. Contact us as soon as you can as our capacity is limited: info@floranovadesign.com.

Happy Holidays!

Ashley and Jordan’s Garden Wedding

Ashley was everything we admire in a bride, laid back, sweet, a bit sassy, and she has the best taste (that dress!!!! Swoon!). This lovely couple got married last September at one of our favorite beautiful garden venues. Together with Ashley we designed every aspect of this Chateau Lill wedding: we came up with the color palette and selected all specialty rentals. Then we designed the floor plan and the overall look of the tent, and coordinated quite a few other pretty decorative details.

An Outdoor Wedding in the Park

The ceremony took place in the garden up on a hill surrounded by enormous trees. We loved the way their garden arch turned out (you can even see one of our designers hard at work creating it in one of the photos!). Late summer is always such a lovely time for flowers, we took advantage of the season by incorporating the huge peegee hydrangea and cafe au lait dahlia you can only get at this time of year.

Ashley and Jordan’s Reception

For the reception space in the tent we covered all the chandeliers in our favorite greenery vine called smilax to incorporate the garden feel into the reception space as well. And we designed a mixed floor plan of round tables draped in blush linens and rectangular wooden tables. The head table was placed into the center of the tent, featuring lush, elevated garden bouquets. I know you’ll love these images of all the impeccable beauty this wedding included.
